Legendary Soul/Jazz Funk band firmly entrenched in Rare Groove and Crate Digging Culture.
RAMP formed in Cincinnati in 1975, with Sibel Thrasher and Sharon Matthews as lead vocalists, Landy Shores on guitar, Nate White on bass and John Manuel on the drums. In the winter of 1976, the band met with Roy Ayers who signed them on the spot! In 1977, their debut album, Come Into Knowledge, was released.
From "Bonita Applebaum" to PM Dawn, RAMP has enjoyed an amazing comeback through the art of sampling. Once every couple of years, the group receives another nod, the most recent: Madlib's cover of RAMP's "Daylight" for his popular Yesterday's New Quintet album, and Common's remix of his hit record "Closer". Not to be left out, the popular DJ's of today have also taken notice. From New York's kingpin DJ Spinna, to the Grammy-nominated Kenny Dope, RAMP's music is currently in heavy-rotation in clubs and on the radio from the U.S. to Japan!
With the unwavering support of their fans, RAMP has been reunited with its original line-up and instrumentation. They are even working off of their original set lists from 1977!
The album has been re-issued for the first time on cd on Universal.
